There's a game that I really, really like from when I was a kid called Paladin's Quest. It's a SNES JRPG which plays like just about any other; turn-based combat, equipping items to adjust stats, altering party formation so that the tougher party members are up front, but it's the little things that make the difference.

For starters, the game's art style is unique; it uses pastel color schemes and french science-fantasy inspired aesthetics, so that everything looks and feels fresh. Then there's how magic works; there's no MP, all spells you cast come out of your HP and every time you cast a spell you increase your power with the spirits associated with that spell, ultimately increasing your overall power. Overall, this means that your characters are going to be casting new spells regularly throughout the game to develop your spirit affinities as efficiently as possible, which makes things pretty interesting, and the fact that your casting out of your HP means that you need to be more thoughtful about your magic. And of course, no healing spells. Healing is handled via refillable potion bottles of varying degrees of power and so managing your healing resources is also important.

Overall, it's a pretty fun game and if you at all enjoy old-school JRPGs, I'd definitely give it a shot.

Give me a fandom, a character/pairing, and a cheesy cliche, and I will write a short fic. The cheesier the cliche, the better!

Who accidentally pushes a door instead of pulling/vice versa
Who doodles little hearts all over the desk with their initials inside them
Who starts the tickle fights
Who starts the pillow fights
Who falls asleep last, watching the other with a small affectionate smile
Who mistakes salt for sugar
Who lets the microwave play the loud beeping sound at 1am in the morning
Who comes up with cheesy pick up lines
Who rearranges the bookshelf in alphabetical order
Who licks the spoon when they’re baking brownies
Who buys candles for dinners even though there’s no special occasion
Who draws little tattoos on the other with a pen
Who comes home with a new souvenir magnet every time they go on vacation
Who convinces the other to fill out those couple surveys in the back of magazines

The bright slap. Because of course when someone is in pain or distress or is otherwise not being cooperative, the thing to do is to slap them across the face. THAT will make them "Man up" or what the fuck ever.

But what is proper pacing? How fast can a show's pacing get before it is too fast and you're getting whiplash? And how slow is too slow and everyone is getting bored and begging the show to just get on with it? Not helping is that the proper pacing for any story is dependent on the format and running length of the story; a long-running action shonen series, for example, is going to have completely different pacing from a feature-length character study, and that too will be different from an 11 minute short.

Just, what are some examples of really good or really bad pacing that you can think of?

The DOMA arc of Yugioh DM was a toxic cancer that is to blame for the direction of much of the franchise.

Yugioh GX was a garbage fire that was then hit with a nuclear bomb.

Yugioh 5Ds started promsingly but crashed and burned hard.

Yugioh Zexal was bad all the way through.

Yugioh Arc-V fumbled here and there but is by far the strongest and best spin-off the franchise has ever seen. It made me like Crow for pete's sake!

Yugioh VRAINS...isn't really doing it for me and if it does what I fear it is going to do, I'm likely to drop it soon.
