I've just learned that the 2011 Super Sentai Series will have the title Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger. Kaizoku, is Japanese for Pirate. Toei is going to make a pirate themed Super Sentai series. Being the huge One Piece Fanboy that I am, this to me has the potential to be unbelievably awesome. And I'll be able to watch it from the very beginning. Sweet.

Ever since the Arlong Arc, just about every major arc of One Piece ends with a huge party that goes on for days and days on end.

I like that, it's a nice touch, and it's something you don't see very often in other stories.

Seriously though, for the past forty or so chapters of One Piece, I've had the same exact response; OH MY GOD!

Really, it's as though I've become Chester A. Bum.

And for very, very good reason.
cypsiman2: I still believe in my dreams (Your writing is bad)
Someone over on Fandom Secrets (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomsecrets/443507.html?thread=259264883#t259264883) tried to claim that Bumi and Suki of Avatar the Last Airbender were white.

Bumi.

Suki.

Bumi, named after the Hindu word for "Earth" and king of Omashu.

Suki, named after the Japanese word for like/love and leader of the "Kyoshi" Warriors.

I just...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!

Donquiote Doflamingo, what do you think of this?

"FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU, THIS IS A RIOT!"

I see, and what are your opinions, Marshall D. Teach?

"ZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, THIS FOOL BE DREAMIN'!"

Very good, and you, Monkey D. Luffy?

"SHISHISHISHISHISHISHI, THAT GUY'S EVEN WEIRDER THAN THE GRAND LINE!"

Well, there you have it; three infamous pirates with very healthy senses of humor all agree, this is hilarious.

And finally, let us remember the words of Mr. T, and give this fool our pity.

And I love you for it.

Just...I never thought Oda would have done it. But he did, he really did. I salute you, you magnificent bastard.

Now please, next week, fix it. Bring in the 7 dragon balls if you have to, but fix it all the same.

So I get my diploma from The Evergreen State College (Bachelor of Arts degree), and I look at my name on it; Alex D. Wirsching.

Alex

D.

Wirsching.

I am a huge, huge fan of One Piece, and this was the first time I noticed that.

P.S. Also, I've watched the trailer for the tenth One Piece movie a whole bunch of times, and only now do I notice that the villain for the movie, Gold Lion Shiki, has swords for legs. Apparently my lack of observation skills are epic.
cypsiman2: I still believe in my dreams (CANON IS DELICIOUS)
Seriously, in what other shounen series will you ever find a character expositing on the virtues and wonders of a post-gender society and see trans-gendered people being portrayed as actual people and not as freaks or jokes?  You won't, and this is why One Piece is wonderful; because the author is willing to say things like this, to an audience that really needs to hear it.

It really makes up for the lameness of Bleach and Naruto, that's for sure.
