cypsiman2: I still believe in my dreams (Navigator)

So, I finished the Sailor Moon manga a little bit ago. Thought it was pretty amazing. I think my favorite moment was Sailor Moon blowing up a planet made entirely of evil, and that was only the second arc.

What were some of your favorite moments from Sailor Moon, and what Magical Girl manga would you recommend?  [livejournal.com profile] a_white_rain has already recommended Card Captor Sakura, but there's still a lot more out there to peruse.

The end of the second arc was probably my favourite, with Sailor Moon blowing up the planet. I will never get over Sailor Pluto's sacrifice!

I haven't read many Magical Girl manga, but I've been meaning to check out Magical Knight Rayearth, which is made by the creators of Card Captor Sakura. It's about three ladies who are transported to another world who are given elemental powers and are given the destiny of fighting for the world's kingdom. I've heard it's plot becomes more complex over time and it has excellent character development.

And then Sailor Pluto reincarnates backwards in time, and then becomes one of Hotaru's three mommies. The fact that Sailor Moon can make that work is really quite impressive, heh.

Magical Knight Rayearth, I've heard of that too. Wasn't there something about a love triangle in it though? I'm not a fan of love triangles, just saying.

It was excellent to see Hotaru get three mommies, and Setsuna get a family!

I hadn't heard of the love triangle! I am not a fan of those either. But I may still check it out, just to see what it's like.

Ah, I believe I was thinking of Vision of Escaflowne, which is another "School girl gets sent to fantasy world" anime, my bad. Mind, I haven't seen that one either yet so who knows how well it handles its love triangle.

Ooh, I highly recommend Magic Knight Rayearth! Well, the anime- I still haven't gotten around to reading the manga ^^; The ending of the first season is amazing, and then things just get even better in the second. There's a sort-of love triangle between Hikaru and two men, but it's all sort of vague and I suspect meant to be left open to, um, other interpretations. Also, the dub versions of the theme songs are great- I like them just as much as the original versions.

Also, hi! I'm so sorry I've spent so much time invisible- I'll try to work on not doing that anymore. I've missed you!

Hmm, I'll have to get to that when I have the time.

And hey, be invisible or visible, just plain be you, yo.

I'm trying to think of some other magical girl series...well, you know, ones which I'd actually recommend. A newer artist who draws a lot of magical girl series is Tanemura Arina. Full Moon wo Sagashite, a sort of retro-style magical girl series of the idol variety, is very good. While the anime is a bit heavy on filler, I have to admit to having a preference for it- being able to actually hear Mitsuki's songs (which are amazing) being just the most obvious reason. There's also Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne (I recommend the manga over the anime in this case), and her newest, Sakurahime Kaden.

A series I watched ages ago and really liked is Pretear. I'm honestly not sure if you'd like it, but one advantage is that it's quite short, so either way it doesn't take up too much of one's time. I keep meaning to watch Puchi Puri Yuushi- when I do I'll tell you what I think of it.

::hugs::

Noted. When I get done with Cardcaptor Sakura, I shall take a look into Tanemura Arina's works.
