Where I Watch Fresh Pretty Cure! Episode 20

So, in addition to the new monsters taking their toll on Eas, we also see that the Precure team is also getting drained, affecting their day to day lives. There is also an element of social commentary to this, a criticism of the attitudes of not expressing one's worries to other people as most clearly expressed by Love's horror at almost telling "Setsuna" about her worries, and of not being upfront with the people you're worried about as seen with Tarte's lamentation over being unable to tell Love what he really thinks.

Plus, we see Eas's denial growing stronger and stronger, I look forward to seeing that come to a head and how she will emerge from that.

Also, the fight has a nice variation on the stock footage finisher with the team having to get really close and personal to make up the difference on their exhaustion, and then it ends with them collapsed in the middle of the street, ambulances on their way and everything! Holy crap, that was not something I expected at all, I can't think of another show like this where something like this happened. I am really eager to see what happens next.

Fresh is one of the more overlooked Precure series becasue it's considered light-hearted and silly. But I wonder if these people have even watched it. Fresh can be quite dark! This episode is a good example of that, and it's about to get darker, too!

There was also back in episode 6 where Love sees her mother disappear right before her eyes and she didn't know whether or not defeating the Monster of the Week would bring her back and that drawn out tense moment where she's standing at her door, afraid to find out...damn, that's pretty dark!

I think one part is that the series has gone unsubbed until quite recently.

Another is that the characters don't feel as deep, however genuine that complaint is.

I'd also say that Fresh doesn't have the explosive opening that Heartcatch did, with Moonlight and Dark duking it out and tearing the landscape up, that kind of thing really helps draw in an audience.

I can't really talk about the depth of the Fresh characters as compared to the rest of the Precure franchise, but thus far I don't think they've been doing bad at all with this cast.

If I recall, not a lot of the Precure shows start explosively. A lot of them start with Slice-of-Life stuff introducing the characters or a hint of magic that is to come. There is one other exception, but I don't want to let it slip since I don't know you're spoiler-threshold.

I can't say why this complaint is there without spoiling the distribution of character focus.
