Where I watch Revolutionary Girl Utena, Episode 16

Nanami would wear a cowbell and insist that it was the height of luxury brand design, wouldn't she? And of course, it is never explained how the cowbell caused Nanami to start acting like a cow and, eventually, turn into one, but then again, such an explanation would only ruin the joke. And of course Anthy has a pet cow named Nanami, something that would no doubt enrage Nanami if she ever found out.

Really, the only disappointment was not getting to see Nanami's nose ring. Oh well, Juri and Miki's faces in response to seeing the nose ring will have to do. Also, Miki and Juri better remain 'available' by the end of the series, if you know what I mean. Seriously, they are really cute together.

It's really very impressive, how Utena can alternate between pure crack like this and then a very intense, surreal but also serious tone. It is a talent more writers of serious plot + crack should seek to emulate.

The only really conclusive pairing at the end is Anthy/Utena, so ship away :D They're definitely cute together, yes.

Oh, definitely, handling tone shifts like in Utena is definitely a very difficult thing. Most writers don't understand this, hence shows whose names shall not be spoken.

To quote my inner child, "Yippee!"

Writers really should work to understand what tones they're capable of and not. I wouldn't ever even attempt what's done in Utena, because I just don't have the ability for much humor. I can write a few jokes which are just based around the characters being themselves or maybe snarking at each other a bit, but I can't write an actual humorous plotline. Given that I can only read/watch a humorous plotline for about an hour or so before getting exhausted, I'm not too torn up at my inability ^^;

If I ever get around to searching through the archives of Utena fanfic, I'll point you in the direction of any good ones, and make a note to look for Juri/Miki in particular :D

If you do find good Juri/Miki fic, I would definitely be inclined to reward you with fic requests!

The why this show shifts from hilarious crack to darkness is simply brilliant. I find this show brilliantly written in many ways.

Juri and are incredibly cute together! I absolutely loved it when Juri was talking about how ridiculous obsessions with fashions are...while wearing a ton of jewelry. And Miki's just like, "um, I don't think you mean that Juri!" Seriously, that scene!

First Nanami gets chased by elephants, then she turns into a cow...let me guess, next she has to put up with her new roommate, who is a giraffe, and she's the only one who can see it? That's what I'd do at any rate.

It is a wonderful scene, and if you don't mind, I'd like to yoink that Utena icon you're using there.

Well no, but some very crazy things happen to her in the future. Something actually more crack filled than a giraffe only she can see as roommate! Which is actually quite an achievement!

Of course, it's a great icon.

I will be very disappointed if future episodes are not as cracky as promised.

That it is, which is why I've taken it!
