A tear fillled Kingdom Hearts fic!

“Ven, don’t worry, everything’s going to be okay.” Aqua’s breath was ragged, her chest rising and falling beneath her armor as she held Ven tightly against her. She held him and his head so that he couldn’t look straight at her, couldn’t see her face as she struggled to keep her tears restrained. “We’ll get through this somehow, and Terra will be okay, you’ll see.” She sniffed heavily, and hoped desperately that Ven didn’t hear that, that the sounds of all the chaos all around them would drown out this sign of her struggle to keep composure. She had never cried in front of Ven, never cried in front of anyone, had never cried…and now she was, for she could feel Ven’s sobs shaking his body, his breath catching in his throat, and the sound of his tears broke through all her barriers, all her defenses, all her desires to be strong for him.

“Huh, now there’s a sight for a sore eye.” An unfamiliar, yet cruel voice called out. Aqua looked up at the man, one eye covered by a patch, the other golden with the power of Darkness. “Whether you’re a mama bird looking after her baby, or an ultra protective girlfriend, you should really just ditch the popsicle, and go get killed by your friend Terra.” The man chuckled with callous cruelty, dressed in the garb of one of the chief guards of Radiant Garden.

“Aqua!” Ven cried out in a half-stifled voice as he saw Aqua leap into battle, her tears extinguished, but not his; he watched, terrified that her anger could consume her, make her a victim of the Darkness, like Terra.

And then, for one miraculous moment, in the course of that hectic battle, their eyes met, and they saw that there would be no need for tears, they would see to it.

Oh, wow... I really love this one, too. The emotions you paint for this scene just tug at my heart. Such a telling scene in just a few paragraphs<3

I love how you even talk about how Aqua has never cried in front of anyone--how she's the strong one, trying to keep it together and strong. And here, everything is falling apart for them. And they feel it and they know it and it tears at them.

Well, it helps that the original scene was so intense to begin with...I just...RAISED THE SHIPPYNESS A LITTLE, MAYBE?

Poor Aqua, she had to bear such a burden in the games, it's amazing that she could handle it all for as long she did.

Dawww. <3 back at you.
