Aang is amazing, wonderfully upbeat and positive in the face of great adversity without coming off as totally oblivious.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
He is the main character. HE KIND OF IS THE PLOT???
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
Yes, absolutely; granted, it's more on the level of wishing I were more like him than actually being him, but my empathy for him is very strong in any event.
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
Undying hate for the fandom, for fandom hates Aang or just generally fails to recognize how great he is.
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
KATARA IS HIS FOREVER GIRL, YO! I also like his interactions with Sokka and Zuko.
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
AANG, NO KISSING WHEN KATARA TELLS YOU SHE'S CONFUSED!

I see myself as the exhausted and beleaguered big-brother figure who gets winded trying to keep up with him. GET IT, WINDED?
