Five item meme

Comment to this post asking for a list, and I will give you five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back at me). Other people (including me~) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

[livejournal.com profile] sarajayechan gave me the following five items.

Kataang, Utena, Yu-Gi-Oh, Gatchaman, lol asoiaf )

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 37

I have to wonder just what it was that Dr. Miwa fed that dog of his, that it was able to do all the stuff it did. Also, when did the dog receive a cranial implant? Did...did Ken ask for that?

Oh, and I am entirely certain that this was not the first hollow victory that our team has experienced in the series' run, Mr. Narrator.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 36

My god, those accents were all over the place. Also, those kids were really annoying and I've got a pretty high tolerance for that sort of thing. Finally, the title of the episode made me think we were going to get some sort of "Fantastic Voyage" scenario; I declare this episode false advertising.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 34

Things I took from this episode.

1. Auroras do not work that way. At all. Not even artificial ones.

2. Five million volts isn't actually that impressive. You can get stun guns with that level of voltage no problem.

3. Jun is more awesome than you. R-E-S-P-E-C-T, spell it.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episodes 32 and 33

Capt. Amazing: I knew you couldn't change.
Casanova Frankenstein: I knew you'd know that.
Capt. Amazing: Oh, I know that. And I knew you'd know I'd know you knew.
Casanova Frankenstein: But I didn't. I only knew that you'd know that I knew. Did you know that?
Capt. Amazing: . . . of course.

That's what this two-parter reminded me of, with all the trickery and double-deceptions as poor Berg Katze tries to prove that Jun and Jinpei really are members of the Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, and Ken and the others keep coming up with ways to get him to doubt himself.

Also, Jun got to kick quite a bit of ass and keep her cool, which is always nice.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 31

This was a fun one; not only do we get some Joe backstory, but also an insight into the inner workings of Galactor. Though I do have to wonder why, after knocking him out, Female Berg Katze engaged an elaborate plan to dump Ken out of the train instead of just shooting him with the very gun that she'd pistol whipped him with in the first place. Oh well, our heroes have to win somehow I suppose.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 30

Berg Katze: Yes, soon the whole Earth shall be razed and all life upon it obliterated and sent straight to Hell!
Galactor Minion: About that Sire, some of the guys and I have been talking. See, we all live on the Earth, so destroying it doesn't really make sense and we were wondering if maybe we could...localize the destruction?
Berg Katze: *Glares at foolish minion*
Galactor Minion: Yes my lord, going right to Hell.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 29

Four points regarding this episode.

1. What kind of orphanage has no adult supervision, and lets the kids engage in kickboxing matches? Then again, it would take that kind of orphanage to prepare a kid for life as a science ninja superhero, so there is that...

2. Apparently there are no such things as weight classes in kickboxing matches.

3. Dr. Nambu's ingenious plan of keeping Ken and Jun on task by having them stationed in patrols hundreds of miles apart from one another was a smashing success.

4. I was wondering when Berg Katze was going to demonstrate his female form. Looking forward to the episode where they explain what the deal with that is.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 27

Lucy: I've changed my appearance, my voice, and even my mannerisms, there's no way Galactor can track me down.
Joe: But you kept your name the same?
Lucy: Uhhh...
Joe: And I recognized you on sight.
Lucy: Just shut up and help me win this long, mecha-animal infested race!

Also, the reveal at the end where it turned out she was a robot was weird. Also, what the hell was Ken talking about? When the hell did he become an expert on robotics?

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 26

About time Ryu got an episode, and it was a nice one too; his family got to survive all the way through, and there was even a momentary gratuitous shirtless scene from Ken. Also, Joe will forever stick to firing the Bird Missile, for that is what he is good at.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 25

Joe: Galactor has upset Dr. Nambu, and that's terrible!
Everyone else ever: What about that guy we just heard dieing a horrible burning death?
Joe: Yeah, I guess that's pretty bad too.

That said, while it was a very silly episode, as most episodes of Gatchaman are, I did like that they remembered the part where Lava generates toxic fumes.

Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, episode 22

Ken, your girlfriend is calling out to you, and the one person you want to see as you're freezing to death is Red Impulse? Dude, your daddy issues, they are seriously getting out of hand. Seriously.
