“Ven, I know you can do it, just one more try!” Aqua cheered from the sidelines as Ventus and Terra sparred yet again.
“You know Aqua,” Terra said as he blocked Ventus’s attack, “it’s okay if you cheer for me for a change. Ven won’t break up with you over something like that.”
“Wait, what?!” Ventus said, too distracted to properly guide his attack and thus overextended himself, falling flat on his face. “Terra, what the heck are you talking about?” Ven said as he stood back up, his face far redder than the impact alone could have achieved.
“Terra!” Aqua said as she ran up to them, her face red with both anger and embarrassment. “Wha, what are you even implying?” Even as she said this, she kneeled down to Ven to make sure he didn’t have any scratches or scrapes on his face.
“Honestly, if you’re going to deny it, you shouldn’t do that sort of thing right in front of me.” Terra said as he chuckled at the sight of them. “Besides, I always thought you two looked cute together.”
“You, you’re serious?” Ventus said, discretely scooting away from Aqua. “Just because Aqua cheered me on instead of you?
“Ven, even if this were the only time she’s done it, and it isn’t, she’s way too doting on you for it to be anything else.” Honestly, Terra had no idea why they were denying it; it was so obvious, even he could see it!
“Honestly Terra, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Aqua said, just a bit more forcefully than she’d intended. “We’re all good friends here, all three of us.”
“Hmm, I don’t know, I don’t ever remember you running your fingers through my hair, Aqua.” Then he turned to Ven. “And don’t think I’ve missed the way you get whenever Aqua tells you that you have to stay behind; I know I don’t ever get that hurt puppy-dog look when I have to leave.”
There was a decided silence.
“Terra, you’re really serious about this, aren’t you?” Terra nodded, and watched Ven turn to Aqua. “Does, does it really mean something when you rub my hair?”
“Do you really get all puppy-eyed whenever I have to leave?”
It was at that point that Terra decided he ought to leave; if they really hadn’t realized how they felt about each other until just then, they had a lot of a lot of catching up to do!
