cypsiman2: I still believe in my dreams (No Development)

Recap of last time, where Saiou gave up the winning move so that marketing could push an utterly unnecessary, unwanted, and unasked for "23rd" Arcana Force monster when they still haven't gotten around to half of the remaining Tarot. And no one on the show comments on this, despite being such supposedly great duelists. Whoo.

TITLE SCREEN! EDO, THE FINISHING BLOW! (BLOO-D) hey, you don't suppose that Bloo-D is going to be worfed to show off how strong Saiou's ultimate monster is, do you?

More whining from Edo about Saiou, more stereotypical evil from Saiou, Edo tells Saiou that he does not belong in this world, Saiou responds "What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets! But enough talk, have at you!"...okay, not quite. Really, it's just Edo and Saiou going back and forth over whether or not Edo can change his fate or not. Finally, Edo takes his turn, and plays the spell card Doctor-D; he removes from play one D-Hero in his grave to special summon another one from his grave. So he removes Defend Guy from play to special summon Disc Guy from his grave in defense; oddly enough, they don't say exactly when Disc Guy was sent to the grave, but instead trust us to remember that Edo sent two Destiny Heroes to the grave through Destiny Draw and Dunk Guy's effect. Anyhow, when summoned from the grave, Disc Guy lets Edo draw two cards, he does so, and summons Devil Guy in defense. Oh hey, The World goes bye bye for two turns. Neat. And now he activates the permanent spell card D-Formation, which will gain a D-Counter every time a D-Hero Edo controls is destroyed and sent to the grave. The use for this will be elaborated upon later, and Edo ends his turn.

Noise from the Peanut Gallery, Saiou mocks them for thinking it'll be that easy, and he just goes on and on and on, and finally he takes his turn. He plays the spell card Necro Sacrifice, which is actually one of my favorite cards that this show ever made; basically, instead of sacrificing monsters on your field for a high level summon, you instead special summon monsters from your grave to the opponent's side of the field, and they get to decide their battle position. Saiou gives Edo The Empress and The Emperor, which he puts in defense, and oh hey, here's a big shock, now that they're on Edo's side of the field, they get their reverse effects; now all his Arcana Force monsters lose 500 attack points, and every time Saiou summons a monster, Edo has to discard a card. And now the time has come for Saiou to summon his monster, Arcana Force XV, The Devil. Guess what? We're going to play that flashback where Saiou shows Chibi Edo The Devil tarot card, again. By the way, The Devil is one ugly sucker. Edo discards a spell card thanks to The Empresses's effect, and no points for guessing that Saiou gets the upright effect for The Devil, because that isn't repetitive and boring at all. The Devil attacks and destroys The Emperor, and then Devil Guy explodes; The Devil's upright effect is that when it attacks, it blows up one monster on the field. Oh, and it does 500 damage when it does so. Which leaves Edo with just 400 life points. Also, if you still care at this point, D-Formation gets a counter since Devil Guy was destroyed.

More gloating from Saiou, and he decides he'll just go ahead and take the key, since he's practically already won as is. Edo whines, and the Peanut Gallery just stands there, because actually doing something would mean that they had a point in being there in the first place. Suddenly, Edo has a vision of Chibi Edo running through the rain with an umbrella looking for Saiou, and he comes upon present day Saiou. This is of course the evil Saiou, who turns into The Devil. Chibi Edo's umbrella gets blown away, blah blah blah, but before Saiou can take the key, something happens to Edo, which freaks Saiou right the frick out. Huh, now he's doing the whole split-face/one-eye crying bit that Saiou used to do. I guess Saiou doesn't like it when people steal his bit. Edo takes his turn, and when he draws his card, he is accompanied by the after image of Saiou. Yep, the good Saiou has joined with Edo to defeat his evil side, in a far, far, FAR less interesting version of Yami Bakura and Malik joining forces to defeat Yami Malik. Edo sacrifices Disc Guy to summon Dash Guy, and activates its effect to sacrifice The Empress to increase its attack power to 3100, and so he attacks and destroys The Devil for 600 points of damage. Dash Guy then switches to defense, and Edo ends his turn. Also, he apparently only just now realized that the Good Saiou has joined with him, and is it just me, or are their noses even bigger than usual?

EYECATCH!

Back to rainy town, Chibi Edo and Past Saiou are replaced by their present day incarnations, and so the two of them proceed to stand in the rain, under their umbrella, and talk about their feelings. It is a very long scene, and apparently for some reason Saiou and Mizuchi were cast out because of their powers, even though no reason is provided for why this would be the case. The writers just automatically presume it to be the case, and see no need to justify it. Long story short, Edo assures Saiou that they are true friends, and together they can overcome the evil that has possessed Saiou and defy his fate. Suddenly, wind, and the ghost prop evil shows up again. And now Edo stops spacing out. Saiou's turn, he plays Reverse Reborn, allowing him to special summon an Arcana force monster in his grave with its reverse effect automatically in play. He summons The Devil back to the field, reprise of the cheesy Halloween ghost prop of evil, and it turns out that The Devil's reverse effect is that when it attacks, it destroyes every monster on the field, including itself. This adds a second counter to D-Formation, and Saiou sets another card to end his turn. Evil Saiou starts yelling at Good Saiou about how he'll be destroyed before long, and back to the rainy place. Good Saiou is all alone and is confronted by Evil Saiou. Evil Saiou tries to trick Good Saiou into giving in to his fate, but Edo is there to defeat him with the power of friendship. Now we get a look at Saiou's hand, he's got Temperance and that bull 23rd Arcana Force monster is almost complete. Back to Edo and Good Saiou, they draw Edo's card together, and now in accordance with Devil Guy's effect, The World returns to Saiou's side of the field.

Edo summons D-Cubic, and activates D-Formations effect; since he has two counters on it, he gets to pick a monster on his field and add two more copies of it from his deck to his hand. And now he activates D-Cubic's effect; since he has two D-Cubic's in his hand, he can use the one on his field as three sacrifices, so he is able to summon Bloo-D. Saiou is shocked to see that monster once again, which rather suggests a complete lack of coordination between the two pieces of the Light of Ruin. Blah blah blah, Edo activates Bloo-D's effect to absorb The World, its attack power rises to 3450, and then Edo plays D-Force...wait, we only saw him grab Bloo-D, when the frick did he get that card? Moving on, Edo explains how Bloo-D is effectively invincible, he attacks directly, Saiou discards Temperance to reduce the damage to zero, and remember that card that Saiou forced Edo to discard before? Well, conveniently enough its effect activates from the grave! Yes, D-Burst, by removing it from play Edo can reduce his monster's attack power by 1000 and attack again. Saiou is reduced to 450 life points, and declares this will be the last turn. The smoke is taking a long time to clear up, and Saiou activates his trap cards, The Material Road and The Spiritual Road, shooting beams of light into the sky. Then he plays The Heaven's Road, sending a third beam into the sky, and then he tries to pull his best Yami Malik impression and fails miserably. Now that stupid extra Arcana Force monster is complete and he summons it, the Light Ruler. Lots of yelling and ranting, Judai yells to Edo not to give in, blah blah blah, and the Light Ruler destroys Bloo-D, defeating Edo and causing the good Saiou to vanish. The pillar of light vanishes, and for some reason Edo's hair has been bleached white. This goes nowhere, just to let you know. And so we end our episode with Saiou laughing his ass off, with way too many lines drawn on his face.

NEXT TIME! Apparently Edo gets turned into sand, and of course Judai duels Saiou. EPISODE TITLE, THE WAVE OF LIGHT VS. THE NEO-SPACIANS. card of the week is the devil, which was never released.

That felt a lot more condensed then usual. Probably because there wasn't a lot of new material in this episode, just the same bits going back and forth, back and forth. Still tediously predictable though.
