Once again, a recap of the end of the last episode, with the addition that now we get to see Glow Neos punch Saiou in the face. Now it's Judai's end phase, which means Glow Neos will be returning to his deck, and...then the spirit of Glow Neos says it'll go stop the Laser Satellite and flies off. Do I need to repeat my question regarding why Neos didn't do this well before the Satellite was activated? Did...did he need to be summoned by Judai in this duel before he could do that? But...that doesn't make sense, Neos had no problem showing up out of nowhere to try and stop Saiou from taking the keys, so that can't have been it. PLOT HOLE!
TITLE SCREEN! WHERE IS VICTORY? JUDAI VS. SAIOU victory, true victory, is in not watching this show at all.
We cut to the woods, and Lynd goes on about how the Laser Satellite will very slowly, very gradually destroy everything, Prince Prince rants a bit, and then he spontaneously passes out for no particular reason. Kenzan somehow comes to the conclusion that Saiou's spell wore off, because he would know how these things work, and...

What did I just watch? Did...did Kenzan just glow with a DBZ battle aura, and astrally project in the form of a dinosaur? Did Glow Neos stop in its all important mission to go grab Dino Kenzan, who then proceeded to spew a bunch of drivel culminating in him declaring that he'll evolve into a "Spacesaurus"? And did they just fly up into space, and Dino Kenzan declared that he would tear the satellite apart? ...Well, that was a thing that happened. But enough of that drivel, lets go back to the other drivel, the duel between Judai and Saiou. Saiou takes his turn, all is not lost for him yet, and he summons The Magician, which lands upright in accordance with Saiou's will. He attacks Judai for 1100 damage, that wretched track gets played, and Saiou sets two cards to end his turn. Blah blah blah unmei, Judai takes his turn, and plays HERO Flash, letting him remove Heat Heart, Emergency Call, Right Justice, and Oversoul in his grave from play to special summon Neos from his deck. For those keeping track, this is the second time that Judai will have summoned Neos in this duel. Also, for some reason this prompts Glow Neos to create a doppelganger to send back down to Earth. The metaphysics of this series really hurts my brain. The Magician's upright effect activates, doubling its attack power, but this is irrelevant since Hero Flash lets Neos attack directly, which it does. Blah blah blah, when Judai is talking about his friends he means his cards and not his actual human friends, and Judai ends his turn.
Noise from the Peanut Gallery, and Saiou takes his turn, activating The Magician's Scales to sacrifice The Magician and add a spell card from his deck to his hand. And so Saiou now activates The Spiritual Road, The Material Road, and The Heaven's Road to summon the 23rd Arcana Force monster, Arcana Force Extra The Light Ruler. Honestly, it looks pretty dumb. No wonder the writers kept covering it up when Saiou summoned it before. But it does have 4000 attack points, so it has that going for it. Big shock, he gets the upright effect, and attacks and destroys Neos for 1500 points of damage. And now back to the nonsense going on in space. The Laser Satellite is apparently now aiming at Dino Kenzan and Glow Neos, and Glow Neos has to shove Kenzan out of the way, as once again Kenzan is worse than useless. Also, apparently Glow Neos is feeling the effects of Neos being destroyed, and with the Laser Satellite still tracking them...somehow, they can't get anywhere near it. Seriously, how is a Laser Satellite tracking a bunch of spirits? But back to the duel, Judai has only 300 life points left, blah blah blah, and since The Light Ruler just destroyed a monster by battle, Saiou gets to use its upright effect to add a card from his grave to his hand. He of course goes for The Light Barrier, but for no discernible reason, does not activate it. Instead, he just sets a card and ends his turn. Cut back to the Laser Satellite, and once more Glow Neos has to save Kenzan. Seriously, WTF was even the point of bringing him along if he was just going to be the load? And then Glow Neos vanishes, and Dino Kenzan whines, and cut back to the duel. Judai is seriously milking this, even though it was only 1500 points of damage. Blah blah blah, Saiou says that to lose is to die, and rants about how all the universe will be turned white.
EYECATCH!
The peanut gallery yells at Judai to get back up, and then Neos starts talking to Judai, begging him to summon another Neos or Neo-Spacian, and it is the imaginary voice in his head that Judai listens to. Blah blah blah, if anyone else were to claim that they could change the fate of the entire universe you know they'd be called out on their arrogance, and Judai takes his turn. He plays Hope of Fifth, letting him return five Elemental Heroes in his grave back to his deck, and since he has no other cards in his hand or field, he gets to draw three cards instead of two. The five he chooses by the way, are Clayman, Sparkman, Featherman, Bubbleman, and Burst Lady. Judai then activates Neo Space, making it just as well that Saiou didn't activate Light Barrier last turn, and now they're standing in orbit...apparently. Saiou exclaims that even if he is defeated, the Laser Satellite will still be unstoppable, and Judai activates Silent Dead, letting him special summon Neos in defense position. This will be the third time now. Now he summons Hippy Space Animal Friend Ground Mole, and performs Contact Fusion to summon Grand Neos. Neospace means that Grand Neos gains 500 attack points, and now he activates its effect to return The Light Ruler back to Saiou's hand. But before Judai can pull off a third direct attack in a row, Saiou activates his trap card Reversing Destiny, switching the Light Ruler to its reverse effect; now, when it is targeted by a card effect, The Light Ruler can reduce its attack power by 1000 to negate and destroy that effect, so Grand Neos goes boom. If this were the real card game, that would be the end of it, but this is the anime, so The Light Ruler's reverse effect will let Judai draw one card. Noise from the Peanut Gallery, Saiou proclaims that all of Judai's efforts are in vain, and he's right; after all, what are the odds that the card Judai just drew will let him special summon a monster with more than 3000 attack points during the battle phase? Oh, right.
Judai goes on about how he'll never give up, that's the kind of hero he always looked up to as a kid, and so he activates the card he just drew, Reverse of Neos; when a Neos Fusion monster is destroyed, you can special summon Neos from your deck. This marks the fourth time in this duel alone that Neos is summoned. Judai proclaims that it doesn't matter that he's an idiot who understands nothing, he's got a special sparkly duel spirit, and that's what really matters. He then orders Neos to go destroy the Satellite like a servant, and it obeys Judai without question. The Laser Satellite is about to fire, and suddenly, Mizuchi! Yes, she says that she'll not let the Light of Ruin possess her brother any longer, and apparently she let herself be digitized so that she could possess the satellite. Why she didn't use this to keep the Satellite from firing before, I've no idea. And so with Mizuchi disabling it, Dino Kenzan and Neos, though mostly Neos, destroy the Satellite. Now all that's left is to wrap up this borefest of a duel. Wait, are the fragments of the satellite crashing down on the earth? Better hope they all burn up in the atmosphere...anyway, when summoned with Reverse of Neos, Neos gains 1000 attack points, which combined with Neospace gives it a total attack power of 4000. Judai attacks, Saiou is defeated, and the Halloween Ghost Prop of Evil is destroyed. Thus, Saiou is back to normal, and there is "touching" reunion between the Saiou siblings. Mizuchi vanishes but says they'll meet again. And Neos confirms that Judai just saved the entire universe. Why the anime thinks that such ludicrously over the top stakes are necessary when the manga showed otherwise, I've no idea.
Out in the woods, Kenzan awakens, and seems uncertain as to what happened to him really did happen, not that it matters in the slightest considering that he was worse than useless throughout that whole ordeal, Neos and Mizuchi did all the real work. And now to the other duel that we skipped over in favor of tripe, Rei vs. Manjoume. Rei destroys Ojama Yellow and attacks directly with Spike Egg for 800 points of damage, leaving Manjoume with just 1200 life points. Everyone talks up what a great duel this has been, which would have been nice if we'd gotten so see more than a snippet of it, and now comes the predictable end. Manjoume draws, plays Pot of Greed, plays Ojamandala and pays 1000 life points to bring back the Ojamas, and Ojama Delta Hurricane to blow up all of Rei's cards. Then he equips Ojama Yellow with Shield Attack, letting it attack directly for the win. What, you really thought that someone with a vagina would be allowed to defeat someone with a penis? Please! What show have you been watching? Asuka is in despair, as she knows exactly what Rei is dealing with, and Rei despairs over having lost to such a trash monster, thinking that this makes her a trash duelist but Manjoume assures her that there is no such thing as a trash monster or a trash duelist. Ah, someone's got a crush! Eh, hold on a sec, Asuka, Chronos, and Napoleon all burst Manjoume's bubble and point out that's the sort of thing Judai says, and now Rei's all about Judai again. Ah, truly the heart is fickle. I'm still pissed as all hell mind, but I'll take solace in what I can get. Anyway, Manjoume is the winner of the tournament so now he'll be going back to Obelisk Blue, which should have happened right back at the beginning of the season. He leads in his number chant, and now we're back at Obelisk White, where everyone else has met up.
Kenzan whines about how Judai's totally the real hero, Shou joins in, and Saiou apologizes for having been possessed by Evil Hippy Space Radiation. Judai says it doesn't matter, since the Light of Ruin has been wiped out and can no longer threaten the universe, and the only downer note is that Mizuchi is still data. Judai wonders if Saiou would like to use his fortune-telling to see when they'll meet Mizuchi again, but Saiou says he can't see the future anymore. And he knows this because...? It's not like the Light of Ruin was the source of his power, his power was why the Light of Ruin possessed him in the first place. I think. I'm honestly just guessing. Saiou lets his Tarot Cards drift in the wind, and then a Kaiba Corp helicopter flies overhead, and Mizuchi is in there, alive and well...really? Really? It's been all of five minutes since the end of the duel, and they managed to get Mizuchi back into her body, and fly over to the island, in that short time? And that's just the logistics of it, that's not even going into the bad writing of it. And so we end the episode and the season with a shot of Judai's ugly much as he smugly smiles.
NEXT TIME! Judai wonders about the significance of the vision Saiou showed him. EPISODE TITLE, START OF A NEW SCHOOL TERM! TROUBLESOME PREMONITIONS! card of the week is the light ruler.
What really bugs me about Kenzan pulling his astral projection trick, aside from the fact where he was completely useless, was how it was all about validating his inane reckless action that nearly got everyone killed. I know that Shonen is all about Hot-blooded Gar, but can we please not be so insipidly stupid about it, and so hateful towards characters like Asuka and Misawa, who think about their actions?
