I was really, really, really pleasantly surprised by Episodes 13 and 14; Having Applebloom realize it was okay that she hadn't gotten her cutie mark yet and she didn't have to try to hurry it along...and not giving her one anyway to ruin the entire message? And acknowledging that Rarity's first designs were the right ones and not turning Hoit-Toity into the bad guy at the last second? Seriously, why is this show so good?

All the characterizations are nuanced and don't the negative stereotypes they normally do.
I have to ask this because she's my favourite; how awesome was Fluttershy in episode 7?

Episode 14 was a big example of that, but many little things in interactions with the others show this as well. She's not judgmental at all. In a recent episode, Rarity nearly turns down an offer that would benefit her out of consideration for the pony who made it. I've come to hate how a lot of cartoons treat prim and proper characters as shallow and mean. You can be stylish AND nice at the same time!
