cypsiman2: I still believe in my dreams (The final word.)

So I'm working on my post-canon epic for Yugioh, which means that I have to put together a whole bunch of Decks for everyone.  Fortunately http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page has information on all the cards out there, which makes this a much easier task.  As I'm putting together Anzu's deck, I find this card:

...

Is that NOT the absolute PERFECT card for Anzu?  Y/Y?

Actually, my first thought was a really geeky, "It looks like Misa except it doesn't really!" But I do see a part of that card in Anzu. 'Specially the pompoms. =)

You know, I can see the resemblance to Misa. Good eye.

It's the whole "She makes everyone else stronger and they in turn keep her safe" that gets to me. Like how Anzu gave Atem the cartouche so that he could get his name back, and when he did, he was strong enough to keep everyone, including her, safe. That's the sort of thing that I noticed. There were a couple of other cards that I also found insanely appropriate, but mentioning which ones and why would spoil things, so I'll have to bite my tongue.

By the way, I've now seen the first episode of Utena. Very strange, but a good kind of strange.

Good! It means I'm not that geeky. 83

So, you're actually going to write up duels in your story? Because I always thought that was hard to do, especially if you're making up a deck. But at least your relating the cards to the characters. Me likey. =D Good luck!

And by now, I know where to get the first Avatar DVD: my school library! xD I'm surprised this hasn't occured to me before, but I still can't get to it until next week. And I'm glad you thought Utena was strange -- because it is. x3

You're right to think that writing a duel is difficult. I've actually had to go back and re-write several turns because it turned out I'd created an unwinnable situation. That would be bad, especially since all the duels in my story are shadow games, so our heros can't really afford to lose. Also, with one exception, each shadow game features something bad happening whenever a set condition is fulfilled.

I look forward to you finally seeing one of the greatest shows ever. Also, Was it just me, or did it seem like part of the school in Utena was layed out to resemble the Kanji for "Darkness"?

Eee. I'd rather write fight scenes than duels. For one, I've never really played Duel Monsters. And when I tried, I sucked. D: But Shadow Games are always fun! And it sort of made me giggle, now that I can't help but think, the good guys have to win, or else there will be no more story!

I'm kinda digging the covers for the Avatar DVDs. It looks all serious and happy at the same time. And that was an interesting find in Utena, but I can't exactly look back at the episodes and find out for myself now. D: Though I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of dark stuff does happen.

Another thing I feel I should say is that Utena is said to be made at a very low budget. That's why a lot of the animation seems to repeat itself, but a lot of the repeats are also taken to be symbolic.

And while the good guys will win, I'll be putting them through the wringer before they get there. The beauty of a Shadow Game is that it allows for a direct metaphorical conflict, which is the best kind from the literary stand point.

If you think the covers are good, wait till you see the actual show.

I can see the low budget in Utena. Lots of broadstrokes, sweeping pastels, that sort of thing.

Also for the reader! Makes for dark angst or suspence. x3

Not to mention half the males look like lobsters-on-steriods-oh-no!

Believe you me, there's gonna be some angst all right. You can get an idea of what that angst will consist of from the prologue.

And here is the first chapter for the main story, to give an idea of what's at stake in this story.

Not to mention half the males look like lobsters-on-steriods-oh-no!

I wasn't even going to comment on that, since all the characters looked freaky to me. Not that that's a bad thing, just that photo-realism was clearly never the goal of the character designer.

Ohmaygosh, the angst~! *sniffs it* Tis good!

It figures that the AnzuxYuugi would be disfunctional after the Cerimonial Battle. But they were disfunctional to begin with. 8D Poor Anzu. If I lost one of my friends, I'd feel really crappy too, and instead she's beating herself up for it. And Bakura...makes me want to hug him. xD

That was a great duel in the second piece. It was easier to keep up with than most duels I've read, so it's really appreciated since I'm slow on that department. ^^;; Keep it up! And also, would you like it better if I gave my review on FF.net next time?

True to that, but I still can't believe they were trying to make a cast of fourteen-year-olds. Those boys are not fourteen. They are at least seventeen and are going to college soon. D:

Goody. I was worried that I wasn't being genuine with the angst.

Don't forget how much Yuugi is beating himself up over the whole thing too. They both feel like they managed to betray each other pretty badly. And as for Bakura, you'll be getting plenty more hugging fodder in the next chapter.

I'm glad that you liked the duel. Incidentally, did you know that Jiro Yamada is the Japanese equivelent of John Smith? And yes, I'd like to see the reviews on FF.net, if you don't mind.

Meh, I'm used to characters not looking their age in anime. I mean, look at the cast of Bleach. No way are those kids High School aged.
