Yeah, those spoilers that you may have been hearing about lately, about HInata rushing to Naruto's defense, declaring that she's willing to sacrifice her life to protect him because she loves him, her very brief fight with Pain that ends with her appearing dead and Naruto goes six-tails with rage?

Well it turns out those were all true.

And the thing of it is, if ALL THE OTHER VILLAGERS HAD GOTTEN OFF THEIR BUTTS AND JOINED HINATA IN HER DEFENSE OF NARUTO, THINGS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT MUCH BETTER!

Oh well, while the fight was pathetically short, Hinata went out like a hero.  God speed Hinata, may you be reincarnated into a series that won't screw you and all the other ladies over so badly.

WELL, SAKURA COULD THEORETICALLY GET UP AND DO SOMETHING WITH ALL HER MEDIC-NIN SKILLS. BUT NO DOUBT THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN OFF SCREEN, SINCE SHOWING THE HEALING WOULD TAKE PRECIOUS SCREENTIME AWAY FROM THAT FUCKTARD PAIN.

PAIN NEEDS TO DIE, GODDAMNIT

AND SERIOUSLY, I THINK IT'LL JUST BE *FIGHTFIGHTFIGHTWIN* THEN, "OHAI,HINATA, U OKAY, BB?"

BUT UUUGGGH PEOPLE, THERE ARE A LOT OF YOU, GO FIGHT

I agree with this on so many levels it's not even funny. WHAT HAPPENED TO SAKURA BEING PROACTIVE AND AWESOME?!

Granted, I was thrilled to see Hinata drop the L-bomb FINALLY, but seriously, she gets knocked down afterwards? I seriously don't think she's dead (I mean, one page? Even for Naruto Deathspree '09, that's a little hasty) but SERIOUSLY. SHE WAS PROTECTING NARUTO. That should afford her at least ONE kickass move.

Kishimoto keeps screwin' over mah wimmins. I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

She was doing that lion move thing, which I hadn't seen before. Now if only she'd been allowed to CONNECT WITH IT!

Kishimoto's screwing over of the ladies makes me wish that I hadn't started paying attention to Naruto again.

I don't really like Naruto because of said screwing of the laides but, man, I'll be quite upset if Hinata dies. ILU HINATA. <3333

Well, Hinata is one of the "young" characters, so if Kishimoto is still paying attention to his own themes (doubtful), her survival is assured.

I HATE LIVEJOURNAL AND ITS INABILITY TO OPEN NEW WINDOWS WHEN YOU ACCIDENTALLY CLICK SOMETHING.

Here I'd written up this response to this, and then I went to change my userpic, and I wound up losing everything I'd written.

To summarize:

--the-sun-is-up is NOT going to be happy. And I will be delighted.
--I think it was Rawles who totally called this, and I don't think she even reads the manga. But I think it was she who said that when Mai switched sides at the Boiling Rock, she would have died in any other universe, because that's how those characters tend to go. Silence, submission, love confession, breakout, death. And it's just a rip-off that Hinata had to suffer that.
--Mai is not happy.
--I was spoiled beforehand, so the irony of her not fighting had no impact save to render extreme, extreme, EXTREME disappointment. The confession was awesome, but...the follow-up was too much of a waste. Couldn't he have even just done a two-page battle between Hinata and Pain? Heightened the tension? Or couldn't we have SEEN the killing blow? Unless she's not dead. But...she kind of died off-screen, if she did. There's no dramatic final panel...maybe our last image of her is supposed to be her confession. But...it seemed way too rushed. Especially for one of my top five characters in Naruto.

Fail. Just...fail.

I agree so hard with what you said, especially that the fight was too damn short.

Which is clearly why when the anime gets to that part they are going to expand upon on it. The Hinata fanboys on staff and off will not let this opportunity pass them by.

Yah.

At least he did her the dignity of using his biggest attack on her. Shinra Tensei or whatever it is...he didn't just take her out off-handedly. Much.

One blow; one blow from Hinata with that kick-ass looking lion technique and Pain saying "huh, better make sure that doesn't happen again." AND THEN go and crush her with that ultimate nuke attack. Would that have been too much to ask for, Kishimoto? Evidently it was.

EXACTLY!!!

Even...seriously, couldn't he have had a moment of Hinata vision? When she's giving her speech and knowing that she's about to die...right before she says "Because...I love you," have the panel show Pain in chakra-vision, and just be this STORM of chakra, like, with the heavy, dark lines and just this air of "Good LORD, someone's supposed to STOP that???"...and then have her charge...

Just a little longer!

I mean, hey, when Orihime ends up being useless in a fight, she at least has a moment where she tries and is totally denied...she makes awesomefaces and gets tough. But...nope. Nopey-dopey.

And that lion technique was AWESOME.

You know, like how Katara went and pwned Zuko in a block of ice, and Zuko was just like, "Whut?" and blew the whole thing apart...THEN kicked Katara's butt. Something like that. All we're asking!

HINATA VISION! WHY THE HELL DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?

ANIME WRITERS, READ OUR THOUGHTS; WHEN YOU EXPAND ON THAT SCENE, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HINATA VISION!

AND HERE'S ANOTHER HELL YEAH TO THE LION TECHNIQUE!

I feel that all shonen could learn a lot from Avatar. Then again, most fiction could stand to learn a lesson or two from Avatar.

Good for her.

And the preserving effect means that you can bring them back at any time you want in order to shake up the male character's life; because his is the only one that matters.
