Yeah, I read a certain fandom secret today, related to the icon I'm using for this post.
So, I'd like to get my mind of that, and what better way then a meme? A meme which I hereby dub the unconventional OTP meme.
Comment on this post with a selection of your unconventional OTPs, I'll pick one, and you explain how the unconventional aspects of it make it more appealing to you.

Date: 2009-07-06 11:37 pm (UTC)As regards the "Katara as Aang's prize" bull? If the preceding 57 episodes hadn't hammered it in that Katara isn't anyone but her own, then I don't know what the 4 remaining episodes could have done.
I also find the people complaining about too much romance to be hilarious; 95% of the four-episode finale was action and plot and gen, what more do you want?

Date: 2009-07-07 10:11 am (UTC)I had wondered to myself when reading complaints about "Katara as a prize," if all the development of Kataang in the previous 57 episodes could really be discounted by the last four episodes, which focused on the action/plot like it should have?
Well, I think it was that one scene in EIP that may have discounted Katara's agency for some, and it is a bit ridiculous. I mean, paint Aang out as an entitled little brat who pushed himself on Katara and then at the end of the show she's decided to go with him. Which...is a startling exageration of what actual happened.
