As the title of the post suggests, I'm going to do a "Where I Watch" for Fresh Pretty Cure starting this Monday. Why Fresh Pretty Cure? Because it has the same Head Writer as Mahou Sentai Magiranger and I freaking love Magiranger, so I'm optimistic about this. What I would like to know is how much detail you'd like me to go into on each episode; should I just do broad-strokes or a blow-by-blow account or somewhere in between?
Heartcatch Precure is a very good Magical Girls series with a lot of good humor, great fight animation, and some absolutely wonderful handling of character and gender.
( Discussion of character arcs behind the cut. )
So yeah, watch Heartcatch Precure, it is a really, really good show.

Heartcatch Precure, episodes 45 through 49
May. 8th, 2012 04:05 pmThat was really good and amazing and emotionally satisfying and epic and hilarious and moving and was a very well executed final arc for the series and after I've had a chance to decompress and look back at it all without turning into a big pile of ooey-gooey emotions going "bwaa-waa-waa-waa" like I've been hit by a Precure Fortissimo, I will be able to post a more thorough overview of the whole series.
Hint: it was really good.

Heartcatch Precure, The movie
May. 3rd, 2012 02:38 pmThat was a really nice little movie; I liked all the scenes with Olivier bonding with everyone, though I kept expecting there to be this bit where Olivier would reveal that he was actually a girl and Tsubomi would freak out about it. Also, for a guy supposedly consumed with hatred, Salamander never got very mad at all that I noticed, he always seemed calm and composed even when Olivier was betraying him and stuff.
Heartcatch Precure, episode 36
Apr. 29th, 2012 04:58 pmThe management would like to assure everyone that this episode was not little more than a heavy-handed and shameless excuse to shill Nana Mizuki's new song, but since we in the management have no shame, and Nana Mizuki's singing is more awesome than your face, we are not going to bother about that and will instead direct you to buy our albums immediately.
On a more serious note though, since the show's started advertising for the movie, is there a certain point in the series where it is most appropriate to watch the movie or can I watch it any old time?

Heartcatch Precure, episode 32
Apr. 26th, 2012 05:23 pmHuh, so mystery handsome protector dude was in fact Coupe; well, there goes my theory about mystery handsome protector dude and Dune being the same dude. And don't worry Tsubomi, there is someone else; why, I bet that someone else is closer than you think, with long golden hair and everything.
Also, yay, Yuri's going to get her powers back, yay!

Heartcatch Precure, episode 27
Apr. 20th, 2012 10:35 pmThe last few episodes; Cure Sunlight is amazing forever and will beat up all the badguys and will always win Tsubomi's heart forever and ever...which becomes a minor issue in this episode as even Tsubomi's childhood friend can see what's going on here. Also, it turns out that mystery protector dude looks just like Grandma Kaoruko's husband and first love. Also, Grandma Kaoruko was a total Karate BAMF to the surprise of absolutely no one. This show is so good to me.
Heartcatch Precure, episodes 19 and 20
Apr. 8th, 2012 02:50 pmRegarding episode 19: I found the bit where they specifically pointed out the proper way to cut vegetables to be very amusing, especially given my rant back in episode 12. And yes, Tsubomi was exceptionally adorable with that camera. I would have liked it if the guest character's fiance had been there as well, but its not anything important to the story, so there it is.
Regarding episode 20: Professor Sabaak has a boss and is all "I totally knew you were alive the whole time and I definitely wasn't taking over your organization for you, nope nope nope. Also, given the efforts made to conceal his identity, I'm going to say that Dune is the mystery pretty boy who's been protecting our heroes. Also, I found the part where Sasorina yelled at everyone to stop fawning over the new merchandise and to pay attention to her very amusing.
